MONTERO Gen 2.5 - Fuel Tank - FACTORY 2NDS

The factory made an error and installed the fuel pump basket inside the tank in the wrong spot. As a result, the fuel pump hits one of the side walls of the basket and will not fit into the tank all the way. You will need to find a work around for this issue in order to use this tank. Such as: shortening the fuel pump hanger by about 1/4", using a different fuel pump, cutting a notch in the internal basket, etc. Additionally, the lip that goes around the midway point of the entire tank may be bent from shipping, this is easy to bend straight though.  The tanks are guaranteed not to leak but no warranty or returns shall apply to any modifications done to the tank by the user.

This fuel tank is made for Gen2.5 (1998-2000) Monteros but it will also work with the following Gen1 & 2 Monteros with the minor modifications listed below:

*1995-1997

1. The fuel filler hose spout on this replacement tank has a 1 5/8" outer diameter but 92-97 Monteros use a 2" fuel filler hose. You'll need this hose: VP-LO-MR271576 (Verify that the OD of your Filler Pipe at the top is 2")

**1992-1994

1. The fuel filler hose spout on this replacement tank has a 1 5/8" outer diameter but 92-97 Monteros use a 2" fuel filler hose. You'll need this hose: VP-LO-MR271576 (Verify that the OD of your Filler Pipe at the top is 2")
2. This tank is set up with two safety valve holes on the top instead of the network of vent pipes that go out of your existing tank to a  vapor cannister on each side. To convert your vent system, you'll need two safety valves and all of the various accessories such as 3' of 1/4" fuel vapor hose, a 1/4" hose tee, 1/4 hose clamps, and 6 nuts. 

***1989-1991 Long Wheel Base ONLY

2. This tank is set up with two safety valve holes on the top instead of the network of vent pipes that go out of your existing tank to a  vapor canister on each side. To convert your vent system, you'll need two safety valves and all of the various accessories such as 3' of 1/4" fuel vapor hose, a 1/4" hose tee, 1/4 hose clamps, and 6 nuts.
