When replacing your front crankshaft oil seal, it can be difficult to get the crank gear off the snout of the crank and a lot of times this crank blade (AKA trigger wheel, AKA sensor ring) gets bent up in the process. But regardless of what name you call this thin piece of metal, if it is not in the correct shape when reassembled, it can catch on the crank sensor and damage it.
