The original rubber seals used in the timing belt covers of the Gen 3 Mitsubishi Montero are often hardened, deteriorated, damaged, or missing after decades of service. These seals help keep dirt, dust, debris, oil, and other contaminants out of the timing belt area, where contamination can contribute to premature wear of the timing belt and related components.
Our Timing Belt Cover Seal material is made from durable Nitrile Buna Rubber with excellent heat and chemical resistance.
The seal material is sold by the foot and can simply be cut to the required lengths to make new seals for your original timing belt covers. We recommend using RTV to hold the seal high in the cover's plastic channel and then tightening the cover to the engine to set the depth of the seal as shown in the following video:
