Congratulations on having 1 of just 2,500 PajEvos ever built as they are one of the greatest 4x4s of all time!

PajEvos have timing belt driven interference engines that require a timing belt service every 60,000 miles.

It is imperative to use only top-quality parts for this service as we have seen countless failures of cheap aftermarket timing belt parts (particularly the hydraulic tensioner). While we always try to design our Timing Belt Kits to be 100% OEM, we have not been able to get the OEM water pump from Aisin since the PajEvo was never sold in North America. Therefore, we've selected an NPW brand (NISSAN PUMP MFG. CO.,LTD.) water pump for this kit which are also made in Japan and highly regarded for their quality.

Additional Recommended Items (not included in this kit) - Parts that are often a good idea to replace while doing a timing belt service.

NOTE - These items have been confirmed to fit the 1997-1999 Pajero Evolution but the fitment charts on these respective item pages have not yet been updated to include the Pajero's details.

  • Revised Crank bolt & Washer - If your Montero is still running with the original defective crank bolt, now is the time to get that out of there!
  • Tensioner Pulley Preload Tool - Special tool required for correct timing belt kit installation
  • Front Camshaft Seal  - A common oil leak point, we recommend replacing these at least every other timing belt job (120,000 miles), (Quantity 4 per vehicle)
  • Front Crankshaft Seal - Not as common of a leak point as the camshaft seals, but worth replacing every 2nd or 3rd timing belt job (120-180,000 miles)
  • The following parts can be reused indefinitely but often get damaged during removal when trying to get to the crankshaft seal. So it's handy to have new ones on hand in case that happens so the job doesn't come to a standstill:
  • Thermostat (Coming Soon) - We believe in replacing the thermostat any time any major cooling system work is done or at the very least, every time you replace your coolant (usually every 5 years/100,000 miles).
  • Radiator Cap - A properly functioning radiator cap is an important but often overlooked part of a vehicle's cooling system.
