The search is over! These are cabin air filters actually fit US spec Gen3 Monteros properly without needing to cut or modify any part of the filter, and they attach securely with 2 screws (included).
For some reason, probably to save costs, Mitsubishi did not equip US versions of the Montero with Cabin Air Filters even though foreign versions of the Montero did get this feature and despite the fact that the blower motor box is set up to accept a cabin air filter with one small modification (see instructions below). As such, you might have noticed how dusty and smelly the interior of Monteros get from outside air.
These units feature activated charcoal for enhanced filtering of odor and harmful fumes.
Recommended service life: 10,000 miles regular use, 5,000 miles severe use (lots of dusty offroad trails)
*NOTE - Your US Gen3 Montero will need to be modified to accept a cabin air filter but this is a very easy job that only takes a few minutes and no special tools. See Installation Guide post below.
